FELLOWSHIP WEEKEND AT MILLER PARK JUNE 5, 6, 7, 2009 During Fellowship Weekend your group will be able to participate in programs. Program time is on Saturday, June 6, from 1:00 5:00 p.m. Groups that participate in the service projects in the morning on Saturday may participate in the programs in the afternoon. Your group will be able to participate in 3 or 4 programs of your choice. Choose the programs that you think your entire group will be most interested in. We will try to arrange for your group to do as many of the programs you choose as possible. Everyone should get their first choice, and probably their second choice…after that who knows, it will depend on how popular each program is. You cannot split your unit. Everyone has to do the same activities together. One of the 4 program periods may end up being an unassigned free time. If you end up with an unassigned free period, do not crash in to other programs. Members of the North Tonawanda Police Department will be under the tent sharing information regarding drug abuse resistance. PROGRAM CHOICES: Obstacle Coarse You think your better than me? Prove it on our Xtreme Coarse… only the strong will survive! Kayaking - You will be using beautiful 12 foot, single person, Prijon kayaks. Participants must be able to swim 100 yards, and be at least 11 years of age or older. Reality Check You’ve probably never seen anything as interesting as this. Your instructors will show you, through demonstrations and experiments, the harmful effects of smoking. Don’t be fooled, the tobacco companies have subliminal ways to get their message into your head. AWARE Jackie is bringing along her live songbirds, grackle, kestrel, screech owl, red tailed hawk and great horned owl to share with you her message on preserving and protecting birds. Volleyball Join the likes of Misty May Treanor, Karri Walsh, Todd Rogers, and Phil Dalhauser as we play our version of beach volleyball. Edible Plants Become your own “Man vs. Wild.” Staff from the Buffalo Audubon Society will show you what you can eat to survive in the wilds of Miller Park. Chain Saw Carving Karl Buryta will demonstrate his skill as he carves a landing eagle with spread wings. Survival Bill Service will teach you some fundamental survival techniques he learned in the military. |
